The image of full sails on the horizon is often surrounded by clear, aqua seas, sweeping sunsets into a vast horizon, and sandy beaches ashore. Sailing in Colorado is not the same. When you are sailing in Durango, Colorado, you are on a neighboring lake. Peaks and Tides prefers the warm waters of Lake Navajo State Park in Colorado, and Navajo Lake State Park in New Mexico. An hour away, Lake Navajo’s shores offer clear, warm water to swim in, and killer morning and evening breezes for thrilling sailing adventures.
When you sail Colorado, you are surrounded by the jagged peaks of the San Juan Mountains, rocky cliffs boasting huge sandstone boulders moved by glacial melt, and inlets from majestic mountain rivers. Our southwest position in the Four Corners area provides us with hot days that leave us pining for water. Swimming at Lake Navajo is refreshing and comfortable. Our boats offer ladder accessed swimming, easy SUP (Stand Up Paddle boarding) opportunities, and relaxing floating.
