Junior Leadership Opportunities

Ambassadors of Stoke

  • Junior Captain, Ages 16-21

    Want to make sailing your summer job? Ready to take on more responsibility, and use your leadership style to enhance sailing for your community?

    Join our team of Junior Captains and become Assistant Instructors for our sailing programming. Responsibilities include managing Interns and Leaders, administering camp chore duties, selecting and adjusting weekly curricula, and monitoring weather and safety at all times. Junior Captains work directly with the Lead Instructor and Safety Boat Driver to ensure top notch instruction and group safety.

    Junior Captains will be selected on merit and availability and must have worked with our team as an Intern and Leader in previous seasons. Junior Captains are expected to continue to receive advance sailing coaching throughout the season. Junior Captains must be CPR certified, attend cultural sensitivity training, SafeSport training and hold a Colorado Boater Safety License.

  • Junior Intern, Ages 14-18

    Want to spend your summer doing what you love, being outside working with your peers and building your resume at the same time?

    Our interns are refining their leadership style and are dedicated sailors. Opportunities to embed STEM learning, outdoor education credits, and fulfill 9R internship credit requirements are available for interested candidates.

    If you have worked in a leadership role in a sailing program, love team work, have a critical eye for detail, enjoy working within a group dynamic, and love being in the elements for long periods of time, this position is for you!

    Interns are responsible for providing support for the Junior Captains and modeling our program’s leadership culture to the Junior Leaders. Junior Interns are selected based on merit and availability. Junior Interns must be CPR certified and attend cultural sensitivity training. Multiple interns may be selected for the season.   • Junior Leader, Ages 10-18

    Want to improve your sailing skills and refine your leadership style? This opportunity is for you!

    Junior Leaders are enthusiastic, they lead by example, love team work, strive to become a more proficient sailor, and enjoy being outdoors in the elements for long periods of time.

    Junior Leaders will work with Interns to learn how to teach sailing to beginner sailors through land drills, chalk talks, and on the water instruction.

    Junior Leaders are selected based on merit and availability. Junior Interns are selected based on merit and availability.     For example if you can only work Tues and Thurs, please mark the weeks your available and below write Tues and Thurs only.

    If your schedule varies week to week, please send a separate email detailing your availability.

  • Yes! $40/day! Please also inquire with us and your school guidance counselor about opportunities to earn school credits for your time with us.

    We will pay every two weeks. So you will receive payment on the first and 15th of each month.

  • Yes! Selections for each will be based on merit and availability.

    Interns who apply for internship weeks for which they are not selected will be invited to attend as leaders for certain sessions.

  • We will have schedules posted by April 15, 2022!

  • Please let us know either at the end of the form or in a separate email that there are specific sessions that would special for to you lead.
