What is the Broad Reach Program?

We provide youth with a safe and focused program in which they are connected to an inclusive community in the outdoors where self reliance, resilience and a deeper appreciation for the outdoors is the reward. In our program, novice sailors problem-solve, collaborate, and venture outside their comfort zones developing a sense of grit, camaraderie, and teamwork. We are committed to expanding our impact through the Broad Reach Program as we diversify our crew of sailors whose rewards from sailing and exposure to outdoor experiences of this quality will open many doors and opportunities for years to come.


Who does Broad Reach Serve?

  • Resiliancy

    In our first year, our goal is to reach Durango’s youth who are faced with challenges associated with social/emotional disorders and developmental disorders.

  • Native Youth

    Operating on Ancestral Puebloan land, our mission is to provide open access to these recreational spaces to the 4 Corners area Native Youth.

  • Adaptive Youth

    Provide sailing opportunities for Adaptive youth who have physical, emotional, and cognitive disabilities.

  • LBGQT+

    Empower LBGQT+ youth of La Plata County through sailing.
